There are two types of names among elves - sound names (e.g. Darahan, Gil) and names formed of one or more words (e.g. Grasshawk, Morningbreeze). Sound names are formed by putting together random syllables. Especially with descriptive names, please, please, please think about it carefully. Having a name like 'Manslayer' will only get you laughed at.
Among wolfriders and many other tribes, descriptive names are common. Names may come from the elf's appearance, personality, favored weapon, skill or something special that he/she did. A cub's first name is almost always based on appearance or something surrounding the birth (unless you happened to have a Deep Senser around, which few have).
You can create an elf (or wolf or other animal) name by taking one or two of the words below. Longer names are very rare because often an elf's life may depend on it that others can warn him/her in time. And if it takes five seconds to say the name and three for an arrow to hit him/her, the warning comes too late.
It is not recommended to use the following words, because they're already in use in two or more names: bane, dancer, dream, flame, fox, heart, ice, lone, moon, night, seeker, shadow, song, star, sun, tail, wing. You can use them, but it may not be easy to avoid having a name too similar to one already in use.
