This spring's theme is growing up. Mentally, emotionally or physically. I think everybody has at least one character that is an adult or becoming one, so this theme shouldn't shut anybody out.
The summer theme is...a sentence-theme - haven't had those for a while. So include the following sentence in a story, either in thought, speech or sending: "That's not true." It should be central to the story one way or another, not just a passing remark that has nothing to do with the plot. Making it a part of a longer sentence is allowed.
Masquerade
Masquerade challenge. Draw your characters dressed up as the canon characters they resemble most in personality.
Living in the real, modern-day world
Write a story about your character's life if he/she lived in the real, modern-day world, but still with elf body and/or magic. They may or may not live with
the family they have in the holt; it's your decision.
You must include:
~ Your character's favorite band/music group
~ Your character's job
~ Where your character lives and what it's like
~ Who (if anyone) your character lives with (this may be a human if desired)
It would be nice to include:
~ Other characters from Starpool
Future of Starpool Holt
Write a What-If story set hundreds of years in the future of Starpool Holt. Feel free to brainstorm as much as you like with this-- new elves will have
been born, while current tribemates will have died. It's up to you to determine what will have changed.
Rules are:
~ Daystar or a descendant of must still be the Chief of the tribe.
~ If your elf is still alive and you would like them to have Recognized another member's elf, obtain permission first.
By all means you are allowed to still write/draw in response to these. They're only moved to make space for new challenges.
Childhood sweetheart
Write a story set in your character(s)' childhood.
Must include (both):
~ A former sweetheart
~ Shyness about that certain sweetheart
Modern world
Write a worldpool story (a what-if) about your character stepping through a pool of magic and ending up in Los Angeles, 2001 (or some other metropolitan
area, like New York or Paris.)
Must include (all of these):
~ Your character hearing Kenny G or the song "Stayin' Alive" and referring to it as wolf-dung.
~ A car.
~ Your character horrified at our living conditions.
~ Your character learning about the holt and the world of EQ.
~ Yourself.
It would be nice to include:
~ Candles
~ The Little Mermaid
~ The line, "Well, hmph. Who died and made you chief?"
Different era
Draw your character in a different era of time (e.g. 60's, 70's).
It would be nice to include:
~ Color (Black-and-white pics are okay, too.)
Collecting food for winter
Write a what-if about collecting of winter stores where something silly happens, for example hunter(s) become hunted, or forager finds some talking plants
who don't want to get foraged...
Only your imagination is the limit.
Dreamberry vision
It's autumn and last dreamberries are growing now. Because this is the last chance to have lots of them before spring, your character has eaten more than
enough and is having a "vision". Write about it or draw it.
Strange contests
Write a story (either one which happened or a what-if) about two (or more) elves having some crazy/strange contest. (Not which one is a better hunter or
similar. That's plain boring.) You can also write it with someone else if you want (Round Robin style, similar to role-playing).
